As I go into on many of the webpages on my website, ever since I was a teenager anyone who didn’t have a chronically manic, what science calls a “hyperthymic,” personality seemed half dead to me. Those with hyperthymic temperaments are very likely to have frontal lobe impairments. In practical terms, though booze is actually a depressant, it feels like a stimulant since it disinhibits people by impairing the frontal lobes, leading to temporary poor impulse control. Therefore, pedophiles, and pervs in general, are very likely to act as if they might as well have been disinhibited by booze!

Second, even in 1970s when I was closely associated with
religious orders, numbers were dwindling such that most
real-estate was grossly under-utilized. Two or three
religious living in a house built for 10 or even twenty
was not uncommon. It is perhaps even more so today.

What has changed is that dioceses can no longer afford to
squander resources in this way, waiting for the hordes of
‘vocations’ to return to what they were in 1940.

It is not as if these women have nowhere to go. They can
return to their mother-house in LA. They may not like that,
but part of religious life is being sent places which may
not be your first choice.

I find it revolting that the Watchtower organization will form an internal JUDICIAL committee to discuss the alleged sins* of a member and possibly excommunicate / shun that person without even a single witness to the offense being present but then..get this, require children to produce two eye witnesses for their alleged sexual abuse. And what happens if they can’t produce two eye witnesses?

Then this poor kid has to be victimized all over again while they sit powerless before this all-male committee along with their abuser to describe their abuse in horrific detail. This inquisition, which is NOT handled by sexual abuse experts, in turn creates a secondary wounding when the child is told they must “treat brother so-and-so as though he was a member in good standing” because it’s their word against his. As a result, many Jehovah Witness children have been sent back to the “care” of their abuser where they can be raped all over again! There’s something seriously wrong with this!
